ABOLAJI SHONUBI SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Memories and Legacies that last

The Abolaji Shonubi Scholarship is a personalized scholarship under the Flickers of Hope Scholarship Fund that is building a lasting legacy. The Scholarship fund is focused on educating the children of widows, ensuring that they are enrolled and aided to stay in school.

In memory of Late Abolaji Shonubi, his loved ones created this fund in his name, as a signature of what he held dear, imprinting his name in the sands of time, and in the heart of every child that would be aided through the fund. “Being a father figure to as many fatherless children”

FOH believes in creating memories, impacting and transforming lives through Education. That’s why we share this burden and partner in this to ensure that this memory and legacy is sustained.

The scholarship fund spans for a five year period for each child, and currently has 4 children enrolled in school as at September, 2021 with more children to be taken on board. The fund caters majorly for enrollment fees, uniforms, writing materials and basic textbooks, transport stipends of the children among others. While the Foundation closely monitors the fund, mentors and takes the beneficiaries of the scholarship through informal trainings. Meet Abolaji Shonubi Scholarship Beneficiaries

ABOUT ABOLAJI SHONUBI

Late Mr. Abolaji Oluwafemi Shonubi was born on the 1st of June, 1972 in London, UK. Abolaji aka Bola was the fourth child of six children for his mother and the third child of twelve children for his father. He was born in Hackney Hospital in London to Mr. Alfred Shonubi and Mrs. Abike Shonubi.  The family moved back to Nigeria when Bola was just 18 months. He lived in Nigeria until the age of 17 years and returned to UK to continue his study.  While in Nigeria he finished his primary school at St Peter’s Anglican Primary School and went on to Oregun High School for his Secondary School. He attended the university of Shefffield.

He got married to Marijo Valiquette in 2005. Bola loved putting things apart and fixing it again, he wanted to be a pilot, but he became an engineer. Then worked at Siemens PLM, a technology company as a Solution Architect. He died on the 6th of January, 2011 in Seattle, USA.

 If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to heaven
And bring you back again

No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why

Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you

But now we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store

Since you’ll never be forgotten
