On Saturday, 6th June 2026, the Flickers of Hope Foundation Teens Leadership Club held another impactful session for young people. The meeting focused on the theme “Team Leadership & Relationships,” equipping participants with practical skills to build positive relationships, work effectively with others, and develop the character needed to become responsible leaders.
Leadership extends beyond holding a position or giving instructions—it is reflected in how we collaborate, communicate, and treat those around us. Through interactive discussions, real-life examples, and engaging activities, participants gained valuable insights into four key areas: Teamwork, Healthy Friendships, Conflict Resolution, and Peer Pressure Management.
Teamwork: Achieving More Together
The session began by highlighting the importance of teamwork. Participants learned that every successful team is built on cooperation, trust, communication, and mutual respect. They discovered that each person brings unique talents and perspectives that contribute to achieving a common goal.
The discussion encouraged participants to appreciate the value of listening to others, sharing responsibilities, supporting teammates, and taking accountability for their roles. Whether at school, at home, in sports, or within the community, effective teamwork enables individuals to accomplish far more together than they could alone.
Building Healthy Friendships
Friendships play a significant role in shaping attitudes, behaviour, and future decisions. During this session, participants explored the qualities that define healthy friendships, including honesty, respect, kindness, loyalty, encouragement, and trust.
The discussion also helped participants recognize unhealthy relationships characterized by bullying, manipulation, dishonesty, disrespect, or pressure to engage in inappropriate behavior. They were encouraged to intentionally choose friends who inspire positive values and support their personal growth.
Resolving Conflict Peacefully
Conflict is a natural part of human relationships, but how it is managed determines whether relationships become stronger or weaker. Participants learned practical conflict resolution skills such as remaining calm during disagreements, listening actively, communicating respectfully, seeking understanding before responding, apologizing when necessary, and practicing forgiveness.
These skills will help participants build stronger relationships with family members, classmates, teachers, and friends while developing emotional maturity and responsible leadership.
Managing Peer Pressure
One of the most engaging discussions centered on peer pressure and its influence on decision-making during adolescence. Participants explored both positive and negative peer pressure and learned strategies for making wise choices regardless of external influences.
They were encouraged to stay true to their values, think carefully before making decisions, confidently say “no” to negative influences, seek guidance from trusted adults when faced with difficult situations, and surround themselves with friends who encourage positive behavior.
The session reinforced that true leadership requires courage, integrity, and the confidence to make the right choices—even when those choices are unpopular.
Looking Ahead
The Teens Leadership Club remains committed to nurturing confident, responsible, and purpose-driven young leaders who will positively influence their schools, families, and communities.
We appreciate all our participants for their enthusiasm, active participation, and willingness to learn and grow. We look forward to another enriching session as we continue to empower the next generation with the knowledge, skills, and values needed for leadership and lifelong success.
