At Flickers of Hope Foundation (FOH), we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a meaningful future, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. Our scholarship programme is one of the ways we are committed to ensuring that financial hardship does not become a barrier to a child’s education.
On Monday, 31st August 2026, Flickers of Hope Foundation conducted its 2026/2027 Scholarship Examination, primarily for children who had completed primary school and were preparing to begin Junior Secondary School (JSS 1). The opportunity was made available to children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds whose parents or guardians may be unable to afford their education, as well as orphans and children of widows.
The examination commenced at 9:00 a.m. and lasted for one hour and thirty minutes. A total of 19 students sat for the scholarship examination. Following the assessment and selection process, six students were selected as beneficiaries of the scholarship programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The six new scholarship beneficiaries are:
- Samuel A.
- Faith I.
- Praise J.
- Frank D.
- Aisha A.
- Raheemat A.
With the addition of these six students, the Foundation now has a total of 22 scholarship beneficiaries. This is an increase from the 16 beneficiaries who were continuing into the new academic session. As of July 2026, the Foundation had 20 beneficiaries; however, four students successfully graduated at the end of the 2025/2026 academic session, making way for new children to be welcomed into the scholarship scheme.
More Than a Scholarship
For us at Flickers of Hope Foundation, a scholarship is more than simply paying school fees. It represents hope, opportunity, continuity, and a chance for a child to dream beyond their present circumstances.
We are particularly passionate about supporting children at the transition point from primary school to junior secondary school. For many children from vulnerable families, this transition can be challenging, and without financial support, their education may be interrupted at an early stage. Through our scholarship programme, we seek to bridge this gap by helping children remain in school and continue their educational journey.
Our desire is to see more children given the opportunity to move from primary school into secondary education, equipped with the knowledge, confidence, values, and support they need to thrive.
Beyond financial assistance, we are committed to mentoring, guiding, encouraging, and supporting our scholarship beneficiaries as they navigate their educational journey. We want to be present not only when they need school fees, books, or other educational support, but also as they discover their abilities, develop positive values, make important decisions, and work towards their dreams.
Every new beneficiary represents another story of hope and another opportunity to make a lasting difference.
Welcoming Our New Beneficiaries
We are always excited to welcome new students into the Flickers of Hope Foundation scholarship family. We celebrate these six young students and look forward to walking alongside them as they begin this new chapter of their lives.
Their journey into Junior Secondary School is the beginning of another important phase of their education. We hope that they will embrace every opportunity to learn, ask questions, discover their strengths, build good character, and pursue excellence.
To our new scholarship beneficiaries, Samuel, Faith, Praise, Frank, Aisha, and Raheemat, we say:
Welcome to the Flickers of Hope Foundation scholarship family!
As you begin your journey into junior secondary school, we wish you courage to face new challenges, curiosity to keep learning, discipline to stay focused, and the confidence to believe in your potential.
We may be supporting your education today, but we believe that tomorrow, you too can become a source of hope and opportunity to someone else.
At Flickers of Hope Foundation, our joy is in giving more children hope, keeping them in school above all odds, ensuring that their formal education is not stopped at an early stage, mentoring and guiding them rightly, and ultimately becoming a part of their success stories.
We are grateful to everyone who continues to support the vision of keeping vulnerable children in school. Every contribution, encouragement, partnership, and act of support helps us reach another child and create another opportunity.
