This month at the Teens Club, we tackled a topic every young person can relate to — Procrastination vs Taking Action! It was an eye-opening session that helped our teens understand why they sometimes delay important tasks, how mindset plays a big role, and what they can do to break free from the habit. They were challenged to embrace a growth mindset and start taking bold, intentional steps toward their dreams.
Understanding Procrastination
Teens learned that procrastination is not just “laziness,” but often a result of fear, perfectionism, or lack of motivation.
We discussed how mindset plays a big role—when we think we “can’t” or “it’s too hard,” we delay progress.
Causes and How to Break the Cycle
Through group sharing, participants identified common reasons they procrastinate—such as distractions, lack of focus, fear of failure, or waiting for the “perfect” time.
They explored practical tips to overcome it:
-
Use the 5-Minute Rule: start small and momentum will build.
-
Set clear goals and deadlines.
-
Reward progress, not just results.
-
Stay accountable with a friend or mentor.
Taking Action with a Growth Mindset
The discussion emphasized that action builds confidence. Teens were reminded that mistakes are part of learning and growth.
They reflected on how a growth mindset helps them move from “I can’t” to “I’ll try.”
Procrastination may delay your dreams, but consistent action turns them into reality. Start small. Start now.
Stay connected for our next exciting gathering—filled with learning, fun games, and opportunities for growth!
