I am a child who has no father
I am a deserted child of a sick widow
I am a hawker on the street
I am a cart-pusher in the market
I have been reduced to a poor, indigent child
I did not want it
I did not attract it
I did not cry for it
I did not pray for it
But I find myself in this situation of misery and grief
One i don’t pray for anyone
I find it difficult to feed one good meal a day
I consult the dustbins and trash
I close my eyes to sleep
not on a bed/mat, but on an abandoned carton on the street
I watch others get educated
Speak good English
I watch them see their dreams come true
I wonder when mine will be due for consideration
I cry each day
I pray someone, somewhere, will hear, see and be felt by my cry
I cry for a meaning to LIFE
I cry for a future
I CRY FOR HOPE!
